UPGRADES to the Kutarere School entranceway and the building of a new carpark should be completed within a few days.
Principal Susan Lee said the school had been waiting for years to get the work done, and now it was finally happening.
“We are getting our sports courts back, which have served as carparks,” she said.
“The carpark and the retaining wall are being built by local contractors.”
On Thursday afternoon Opotiki Bobcats owner Tony Meehan said he was happy to be working in the sun after a long, wet winter.
“I have spent much of this winter working over at Edgecumbe,” he said.
The work on the carpark retaining wall started on Friday, September 29.
“The job will take another week, weather permitting,” Mr Meehan said.
