WITH the Opotiki Fishing Club Open Tournament on this Labour Weekend, October 20-22, plenty of rewards are promised if there are hook-ups across the species.
Supported by Opotiki Bait and Tackle and Slims Bar, there’s a good chance of picking up cash prizes by placing first, second, third or fourth in the snapper, gurnard, and kahawai species.
But with only one prize for the heaviest kingfish, it could be the species to chase.
As well as the cash prizes for the different species, each day there will be a mystery weight prize across the different species.
Entry fee for the tournament is $25 with tickets able to be purchased from Slims Bar, Opotiki Bait and Tackle, or the Tirohanga Beach Store.
A briefing for the tournament will be held tonight at Slims Bar at 6.30pm sharp.
Spot prizes will be on offer at the briefing as well as at the prizegiving after weigh-in on Sunday which is scheduled for 5pm.
