THE Omarumutu community celebrated some excellent results by its sporting youngsters last week.
Omarumutu School students carrying trophies were welcomed onto the marae at 10am on Wednesday, where they were greeted by elders and members of the community.
Teacher and secretary of sports Jonninna Temple said the youngsters had taken home several wins and trophies in the Muriwai Tournament and the Delamere Cup.
“They have won in rugby, netball and basketball,” she said.
Following the welcome and speeches, the marae elders – also known as the “very senior rugby team” – spent a moment in the sunshine and the gleam from the trophies.
