OPOTIKI Museum manager Dot Wilson says it was not only Opotiki residents that were impressed by the 28 visiting American cars on Saturday morning, but the 60-person entourage from Wellington were really impressed by the museum.
“I played jazz piano for them,” she said. “They were surprised that a small town would have such a big museum and said it was one of the best museums in New Zealand”.
Mrs Wilson also donned an apron and showed the visitors the old Shalfoon’s shop.
“It was a really successful event, a busy day with lots of fun.”
Following their visit to the museum, the Early American Car Club members had lunch at the Opotiki RSA.
The car club is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of American cars manufactured between 1932 and 1971.

SHARON Hughes from Auckland and two-year-old Reid Nelson from Opotiki were admiring the cars.
