THE Opotiki Embroidery Guild is holding its biennial exhibition next week.
Spokeswoman Ann Paynter said 22 artists were taking part in the exhibition, which would run from Thursday November 2 to Sunday, November 5. Of those, 18 were from Opotiki.
“Opotiki embroiderers have worked towards this exhibition over the past two years and welcome the opportunity to show that embroidery is alive and well in Opotiki.”
In conjunction with the display, embroiderers and fibre artists from around the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions have entered the Kay Sheffield Challenge and these entries will be displayed as well.
Mrs Paynter said entries for the challenge had been received from as far afield as Taupo and Waihi.
“The public is welcome to join us at the Art Society building in King Street to see the exhibition,” she said.
