CONTRACTORS and Horizon Energy staff were seen out in force at Kutarere and Waiotahe last week.
Horizon Energy operations manager Jan Cronje said the work carried out last Thursday near the Kutarere township was part of Horizon Network’s planned asset replacement and renewal programme.
“In light of the vehicle accidents at Lysaght’s Bridge Horizon took the initiative to relocate the pole affected by these accidents to minimise the impact of any future incidents on our infrastructure,” he said.
“The outage area needed for the relocation of the pole was the same as that required for the planned maintenance work.”
Mr Cronje said that by combining relocation of the pole with other required maintenance work a minimum of disruption to customers occurred.
“The work should reduce the number of future unplanned outages in this area,” he said.
The relocated pole has, during the past few years, been crashed into and destroyed by motorists who fail to take the bend at Lysaght’s Bridge.
