HAWAI visual arts students are opening an exhibition in Opotiki this weekend.
Course supporter Bev Vellenoweth said about 30 students had been taking part in the Te Wananga o Aotearoa Certificate in Maori Visual Arts at Hawai this year.
The level four course had been taught by Roka Cameron, she said.
“Now as the year draws to a close, the students are preparing for their exhibition called Te Ao Takahuri.”
The exhibition will be held at the Church Street pop-up shop and opens at 10am on Saturday, November 25.
Mrs Vellenoweth said the Waioweka kapa haka group would entertain at the opening.
The exhibition, which will feature traditional piupiu made by students, will be open 10am to 4pm daily until Wednesday, December 6.
