THE latest edition of the Pacific Coast Highway Guide was delivered to the Opotiki News office on Wednesday morning.
Editor Barbara Collett said the publication has been going for 58 years and that she’s been the editor since 2002.
“Before that, my parents did it,” she said.
Her mother, Margaret Rudkin, is still involved with the production and distribution of the guide.
“We print at least 40,000 copies every year,” Mrs Collett said.
Now an 82-page publication, the guide has grown from the first issue, which was around 10 pages.
The guide is produced by the Opotiki and District 10,000 Club, which was formed in 1959.
“This club was formed with the goal to increase the population to 10,000 residents.”
The guide covers the Opotiki, Gisborne, Wairoa and Waikaremoana areas.
