IT is again safe to eat shellfish from Bay of Plenty beaches.
The Ministry for Primary Industries yesterday removed shellfish biotoxin warnings.
Recent water and shellfish sampling for algae and their toxins has shown that shellfish are now safe to eat.
Shellfish and seawater samples are taken every week from popular shellfish gathering areas around New Zealand and are tested for the presence of toxic algae.
MPI issued the warning in early November and it has been in place ever since then.
There are now no warnings in place for the whole of New Zealand.
